ReplyDeleteI think that Sal thought she could tell Phoebe that her mother may not be coming back because Sal is not one of those people that can keep secrets from their best friend. I also think that Sal almost told Phoebe because Sal didn’t want Phoebe to get her hopes to high and keep expecting her mother to come home. If Phoebe’s mother never comes back, Sal doesn’t want Phoebe to be anxious for her mom to get home. It says on page 188 that Phoebe still expects her mom to come home. Sal cares for Phoebe and doesn’t want Phoebe to be heartbroken.

ReplyDeleteI think the reason Sal thought she should tell Pheobe her mother is not coming back because she doesn’t want Pheobe to be devastated every day over and over. I also think Sal cares to much about Pheobe and doesn’t want her to have a broken heart. Like on page 189 ‘I did like Pheobe. In spite of all her wild storys and her cholesterol-madness and her annoying comments. There was something about her that was like a magnet. I was drawn to her…………………………………………And in a strange way, she was like another version of me- she acted out the way I sometimes felt.’ I thin k this supports my answer because Sal is really connecting to Pheobe and Sal is caring about her.

ReplyDeleteOn page 188 it said that Pheobe was still exited for her mother to come home. I think that Sal doesn't want to tell Pheobe that her mom is coming back because sal wants pheobe to figure it out on her own so that sal doesnt have to hurt pheobe's feelings.
