I think that Mike the lunatic is leaving the notes. On page 235, it said, "Phoebe-" On the bench was Phoebe's mother, and she was kissing the lunatic."

I think that Mike the lunatic did it because of this passage. Mike is probably leaving the notes for Phoebe's mother. Phoebe's mother was probably acting like she was afraid of the lunatic or maybe she went and did the same thing that Sal and Phoebe did; they were sneacking up on Mike to find out if it was him. So I think that the mother knew that the notes were for her but didn't want Sal and Phoebe to find out about it because Phoebe has a dad already.

Nobody is really leaving notes for Sal, but the mysterious person is leaving notes for Phoebe. I think that Mike the Lunatic is leaving notes for Phoebe. It says on page 232, the last paragraph, that Phoebe and Sal were going to convict Mike of being the lunatic. I also think that Mike is the lunatic because he acts so mysterious at times. It seems like he’s hiding something.

I overall agree with Charlie. I think that no one is leaving them for Sal, but for Pheobe. It is obvious that Mike doesn't want to hurt her, so I bet Mike the lunatic is preparing Pheobe for the hurt and giving her words of wisdom to remember. I know when Sal made a connection to all the letters at one time, But if Sal could only tell Pheobe her connection it could help both of them. I also believe that if Sal and Pheobe talked to each other about their problems more it would help a lot. I also agree with Charlie that he acts suspicious and is hiding something.

  4. I think the notes are telling her that her mom and the luntic Mike are going out. I think the luntic is leaving Sal tow's letters for her to let her know her mom is going out with her mom so it wont be any suprises when she get's there and so she wont be sad if she see's them kiss.

  5. i think that Sergeant Bickle's son Mike is leaving the notes. Sal recognized him on page 204 - last paragraph. "I looked at the photographs on his desk, the ones i had not been able to see the day before. In one was Sergeant Bickle and a friendly-looking woman - his wife, I supposed. The second picture was of a shiny black car. The third picture was of Sergeant Bickle, the woman, and a young man- their son, I figured. I looked closer. I recognized the son. It was the lunatic."
Mike seems to be hiding something. He is acting very strange, overall.
